Rittnerthof

Jean-Ritzert-Straße, 76227 Karlsruhe

Welcome to

The Rittnerthof on Turmberg hill was a farm, riding stable, and place of refuge during the Nazi era. It combines agricultural tradition, Art Nouveau architecture, and local resistance history. The Rittnerthof on Turmberg hill was once an agricultural estate with margrave fruit tree cultivation. In the 20th century, under Eduard Merton, the farm developed into the first riding stable—complete with an Art Nouveau villa. In 1933, Fritz Gebhardt acquired it. During the Nazi era, Hannelore Hansch offered protection to those being persecuted and was a center of spiritual opposition. Today, the Rittnerthof remains a living testimony to regional history.
