Welcome to
The Castle Garden is a large garden area behind Karlsruhe Castle, where people meet for a picnic, do sport, relax from the stress of everyday life or take a long stroll through the city. The gardens were laid out in 1967 on the occasion of the Federal Garden Show in the style of an English landscape park. Sculptures from the Baroque to the modern era, monuments, fountains from different eras and the city garden lake enliven the green spaces. Here, Karlsruhe residents relax from the stresses of everyday life with sunbathing and picnics. With the water lily and pheasant gardens and the "Schlossgartenbähnle", the Schlossgarten offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Since 2000, a striking beam of 1645 blue ceramic tiles has cut through the meadow. It marks a former axis that leads directly to the castle park wall and from there on to the State Majolica Manufactory. In contrast to the city garden, access is generally free of charge. To the west of the palace is the entrance to the Botanical Gardens.
