The bridge houses are half-timbered and were built between 1500 and 1600. They stand on the medieval bridge over the Nahe River, built in 1300 and spanning two arms of the river, and are built into the bridge piers. The bridge houses, the neighbouring St. Paul's Church and the mill pond form a unique ensemble that is one of the most popular photo motifs in the country. The Nahbrücke bridge connects the two districts of the New and Old Town, which shaped the medieval city.
