The Hanseatic city of Stralsund was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List primarily because of its excellently preserved historic centre. Here, magnificently decorated merchants' houses bear witness to the wealth generated by maritime trade. The churches of St. Marien and St. Nikolai are in the brick Gothic style, while the Knieperteich invites you to take a relaxing boat trip. Harbour cruises are also very popular in Stralsund.
