Hochschulstadt Mittweida
First mentioned in 1209, the university town of Mittweida has been an important educational centre in Saxony for over 150 years. In addition to the historic town centre, it is worth visiting the water tower, Mittweida's landmark that can be seen from afar. It still functions as a fire-fighting reserve today. Mittweida is also home to the ruins of the Raubschloss Ringethal hilltop castle to the north, which probably dates back to the 14th century.
