Welcome to Kloster Rosenthal

The Rosenthal Monastery Ruins are a "special place" – the people of Rosenthal speak of a power, a magic that can be felt in this location. The former monastery of St. Mary is located at the end of the Rodenbach Valley, a few kilometers west of the municipality of Kerzenheim.

The architectural remnants of the Cistercian convent are a popular photographic motif and an excursion destination at the same time. With the audio guide "Digiwalk" (a free app to download), you can dive into the exciting history of the monastery. The Rosenthal Historical Society and Surroundings e.V., the oldest historical society in the Palatinate, is responsible for the care and maintenance of the monastery complex. They introduce themselves and the monastery in the following video: https://vimeo.com/686275217

Every Sunday from April to October, the museum in the monastery complex can be visited, offering fascinating insights into the history of the monastery. In the small museum in the "Nassauer Sälchen," there is, among other things, a model of the former monastery. The monastery ruins can be wonderfully explored on a hike along the Rose Hiking Trail and shape the townscape of Rosenthal in various places. The starting point for various hiking trails is the information board at the Rosenthal Pond.

For all action lovers, the rally invites you to answer tricky questions. Available in a family version and a simpler variant for children aged 6 and up, the two Rosenthal Monastery rallies can be played on a smartphone. The free educational project Placity is used for this purpose. Its app can be installed (Android/iOS) or played in a browser. The rallies can also be downloaded and played offline if needed. Alternatively, the rally is available as a printable version on the website of the historical society: http://www.historischer-verein-rosenthal.de/Das-Kloster/

Historical information about the monastery, the memorial plaque of the foundation, and the grave slab of Eberhard Graf von Eberstein in the Rosenthal Monastery Ruins can be found at: https://www.kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-271239

Tip: You can also exchange your vows in the Shepherd's House in Rosenthal. The Shepherd's House is located right next to the historic Rosenthal Monastery Ruins, providing a special atmosphere.
