Welcome to Möckmühl - Historic Old Town
The medieval half-timbered town in the Jagst Valley invites you to linger – whether you are a "culture hiker on the Jagst" or a "Kocher-Jagst cyclist." Half-timbered houses as far as the eye can see. The medieval town center of Möckmühl is surrounded by a historic town wall with a battlement and towers, which is almost completely preserved.
The hospitable innkeepers in the old town offer cyclists and e-bike riders alike the chance to recharge their batteries. ### Guided tours & local history museum In the local history museum and on a guided tour of the town – past the Hexenturm (witch's tower) and castle – you can learn exciting anecdotes from days gone by.
Do you know the knight with the iron hand? Here in Möckmühl, Götz von Berlichingen ruled as the Duke of Württemberg's bailiff around 500 years ago. Schiller's sister Louise lived here after she married the town pastor Gottlieb Franck.
The local history museum and the town archives lovingly document the history and development of this town, which is over 1250 years old. You can also read about the legend of why a mill wheel, buttercup, and hill are depicted on the town's coat of arms.
### Culture under the stars – Jagsttalbühne The Ruchsener Tor, part of the historic city wall, is the backdrop for the performances of the Jagsttalbühne (https://www.jagsttalbuehne.de/) every year in June and July.
### Nature & surroundings For nature lovers, the **Jagst Valley** is ideal for enjoying wonderful views of the hilly surroundings, old vineyards, and river valleys on a cycling or hiking tour.
Seckach and Hergstbach flow into the Jagst from the north – there is plenty of nature to discover in the idyllic valleys of the two streams, and you can plan a short "river tour" as a day trip on the Kocher-Jagst cycle path.
Despite its idyllic landscape, Möckmühl is very conveniently located on the A81 between Heilbronn and Würzburg, not far from the Weinsberg interchange and the A6.
