Niederschlesien

The rich, multi-ethnic history on the one hand and the deep forests and mountainous landscapes on the other characterise the cross-border region of Lower Silesia, which is largely located in Poland. On the German side, Bautzen in the Upper Lusatia region is considered the cultural centre of the Sorbs, an indigenous ethnic group with its own language and customs. Even the signposting here is bilingual by law.
