Sängerstadt Finsterwalde

Markt 1, 03238 Finsterwalde

Sängerstadt Finsterwalde
A popular song composed by Wilhelm Wolff in 1899, which is still sung at festivals today, made Finsterwalde famous as a “Sängerstadt” or town of singers. Visitors to the Singer- and Merchant museum can find out more about the origins of the famous song. Architectural highlights include the Trinitatis Church and the Renaissance-style Finsterwalde Castle. The old town is also characterised by Art Nouveau houses, classicist and late baroque buildings.
