Strahlenburg Schriesheim

Welcome to Strahlenburg Schriesheim

The old castle tower of Strahlenburg rises up amid the vineyards. It is a historic site where Heinrich von Kleist's knightly drama "Kathchen von Heilbronn" was once set. The ruins lie on a flank of the Ölberg, also known as the Schriesheimer Schlossberg. The town is located directly below. From the castle, you can see a large part of the Rhine valley with the towns along the Neckar and Rhine rivers. In good weather, the view extends to the Palatinate Forest and, when visibility is very good, even to the Donnersberg. The valley of the Kanzelbach stream, which rises in Altenbach, cuts into the Odenwald forest on the side of the Ölberg.
