The imposing Wartburg has been a World Heritage Site since 1999. The white, half-timbered walls and high towers are visible from afar. Once inside the fortress, visitors follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther, whose writing room can still be visited today. The Palas with its ornate murals should also not be missed on any visit.
