Welcome to Altenburg Island Zoo

A small paradise that has great appeal is the Altenburg island zoo. Located in the heart of the Skatstadt, surrounded by the big pond, the idyllic island invites to be discovered every day. The zoo is home to over 400 animals in around 80 species. Among others exotic fish, reptiles, monkeys, meerkats, some bird species, but also various hoofed animals. Visitors have the opportunity to experience animals up close in the petting enclosure, where they can meet dwarf goats at eye level. In the past few years, an educational adventure trail has been created that teaches young and old about the diversity of nature in a playful way. In addition, a small playground and ample seating invite visitors to linger.
