Fool's fountain

The Fools' Fountain was created in 1986 by the Renningen blacksmith Gerhard Längerer and expanded over time. Today, the fountain represents all the groups of the Weiler Fasnet: from the witches, gypsies, sloe spirits, Spicklingsweibern, clowns, bears to the Steckentäler, Schellenteufel and Schelme to the guild master and AHA ballet. The Fools' Fountain is thus a living testimony to the Weiler Fasnet, not only preserving the traditions, but also emphasizing the creative and playful element of the jester's art.

The Weiler Fasnet has been documented in the town archives since 1625, when the magistrate punished some Weiler jesters for "wanton Mummerey"! In the 18th century, the "Mummerey" was even temporarily banned before the first carnival play and parade took place in 1863, followed by the first "AHA" carnival jump in 1930. The folk plays took place on the market square from 1863 to 1925, in a sense as a forerunner of today's Fasnet.
